Bomag adds four-cycle tamper
Bomag Light Equipment has added a vibratory tamper with a four-cycle
engine to its line of tampers. The BT65/4 offers the convenience of a
four-cycle engine while maintaining the high stroke and impact force of a
two-cycle model. The 150-pound machine delivers up to 3,485 pounds of impact
force and can compact up to 20 cubic yards of material per hour. Typical
applications include highway patching.
Bomag has also rolled out the BT60/4 four-cycle tamper which weighs just
137 pounds and develops up to 3,037 pounds of impact force.
Both models can be transported in a horizontal position without oil
contamination problems.

Full-width cold planer
The new Alitec high-flow cold planer attachment from Woods features a
patented design that allows the planer to fully shift right or left, not
just in one direction like other designs. Woods says the hydraulic drive
shaft smoothly moves the planer 66 inches in either direction, making it
easy to maneuver around manholes, storm drains, and other obstacles. In
addition, the operator can make three complete passes — left, middle, and
right — without repositioning the machine.

Faster, more powerful snowblower
The new High-Flow SnowBlower line from FFC Attachments
converts high-flow
skid-steer loaders into high-performance snow removal machines, throwing
snow as far as 45 feet while traveling at higher ground speeds. Designed to
work efficiently with hydraulic system flows of 18 to 42 gallons per minute,
the new line comes in five models, ranging from 72- to 96-inch cutting
widths, and does not require a case drain. Other features include hydraulic,
direct-drive chute rotation that increases productivity while eliminating
cables and chains; a two-stage hydraulic blower; and dual auger motors for
increased torque.

Ford diesel pickups get more pickup
Ford F-Series Super Duty pickups and Excursion SUVs are available with
the new Ford Power Stroke Diesel V-8 engine that incorporates advanced air
and fuel system technologies from International Truck and Engine. The new
engine uses International’s integrated fuel air management system and
cooled exhaust gas recirculation technologies, along with new turbocharger
technology to deliver improved acceleration at low and high speeds.

New all-wheel-steer line
Mustang has rolled out a new six-model line of all-wheel steer loaders
based on its skid-steer loader line. Three of the new models feature
telescoping boom extensions for added lift. Mustang says the new models are
fast as well as maneuverable: a high-speed option gives them a top speed of
25 miles per hour.

Two new skid-steer attachments
Bobcat
has announced two new attachment products, including the new
90-inch Brushcat rotary cutter. The Brushcat is designed to cut through
thick grass and brush, and is recommended for clearing construction sites,
powerline access roads, and ditches. Bobcat says it can be operated while
traveling in either forward or reverse, and the flotation linkage allows the
deck to float over ground contours.
Earlier, Bobcat announced a new 84-inch-wide soil conditioner attachment
used to prepare a site for seeding or laying fresh sod. According to the
company, it also works well for grading, leveling, filling, and pulverizing
dirt clumps, and for separating and windrowing debris and rocks.

Go-anywhere work platform
Genie’s Z-60 four-wheel-drive articulated boom now has an active
oscillating axle which automatically adjusts to ground conditions for
improved traction and gradeability. Ground clearance has been increased to
16 inches. The Z-60 reaches its working height of 66 feet in just 100
seconds; it has a horizontal reach of 34 feet.

Tight-turning sweeper
Broce Broom features a 13.5-foot turning radius and 150-gallon rust-proof
water spray system with eight spray nozzles to control dust. Its hydrostatic
drive train has a two-speed gear box and a neutral setting for towing at
highway speeds. Features include a sound-suppressed cab design and joystick
broom control. Options include a curb sweeper and 7.5-foot scraper blade for
cleaning heavy material while sweeping, such as working behind a milling
machine or chip and seal job.

New vertical-lift SSL
Bobcat has extended its line of vertical lift-path skid-steer loaders
with the introduction of the S300, a 3,000-pound-rated machine with a
forward reach of 34 inches and a lifting height of 10.5 feet. Designed for
truck loading, the S300 has an 81-horsepower diesel and develops 6,300
pounds of breakout force. Standard equipment includes 20.7
gallons-per-minute hydraulic flow and 3300 psi of system pressure. A
high-flow auxiliary option package boosts flow to 30.7 gallons per minute.
