Schibeci developed its Polyplaner to precisely match the cross slope of a concrete curb to the asphalt surface of a Grand Prix racing track.

While it has the precision of a polishing machine, the Polyplaner is said to be an aggessive removal tool designed to cut, level, or polish steps in concrete or asphalt, factory floors, road markings, thermoplastic lines or epoxies, plastics, or resins. It cuts up to 18-inches wide per pass.

Pull-grader for small jobs

Eastern Farm Machinery recommends its pull-grader as a low-cost alternative to self-powered motor graders. The unit can be pulled by a 50-horsepower tractor or a 0.75-ton pickup; it comes in 8- and 14-foot widths. Hydraulic controls allow adjustment of angle, tilt, height, and steering.

Tier 3 engines

Cummins has announced that its engines will meet the EPA’s new Tier 3 standards for off-highway engines even before the January 1, 2005 deadline. The company is upgrading all engines in the 50- to 750-horsepower range covered by Tier 3 regulations. Central to the company’s success in meeting the new standards has been the optimizing of in-cylinder combustion to meet Nox levels, and the development of the common-rail fuel system which provides full control over the fuel injection event, including timing, quantity, pressure and number of injections.
