More lifting, lower operating costs

Caterpillar says its new M300 C-series wheel excavators feature 30% more lifting power, increased engine horsepower, and improved lifting stability without outriggers. At the same time, the company says the C-series models are more fuel efficient than their predecessors and require less maintenance, lowering operating costs. C-series machines offer an optional programmable auxiliary valve for operating hydraulic attachments; the programmable valve allows up to five sets of hydraulic pressure and flow to be selected, depending on the requirements of the attachment. The five-model series ranges from the 30,000-pound M313C to the 46,000-pound M322C; the 40,000-pound M318C is pictured here.

Mini-plant recycles asphalt on-site

The Astencook portable asphalt recycler is a mini batch plant that will recycle 1 to 2 tons of asphalt millings, grinds, or chunks in 20 minutes or less, according to HD Sales and Service, the exclusive North American distributor for the product. The distributor says the plant produces recycled hot mix at a cost of about $2.50 per batch without burning any oils from the original asphalt, and that it has the potential to produce on-site virgin mixes, too.
