More lifting, lower operating costs
Caterpillar
says its new M300 C-series wheel excavators feature 30% more lifting power,
increased engine horsepower, and improved lifting stability without
outriggers. At the same time, the company says the C-series models are more
fuel efficient than their predecessors and require less maintenance,
lowering operating costs. C-series machines offer an optional programmable
auxiliary valve for operating hydraulic attachments; the programmable valve
allows up to five sets of hydraulic pressure and flow to be selected,
depending on the requirements of the attachment. The five-model series
ranges from the 30,000-pound M313C to the 46,000-pound M322C; the
40,000-pound M318C is pictured here.

Mini-plant recycles asphalt on-site
The Astencook portable asphalt recycler is a mini batch plant that will
recycle 1 to 2 tons of asphalt millings, grinds, or chunks in 20 minutes or
less, according to HD
Sales and Service, the exclusive North American distributor for the
product. The distributor says the plant produces recycled hot mix at a cost
of about $2.50 per batch without burning any oils from the original asphalt,
and that it has the potential to produce on-site virgin mixes, too.

Work platform makes safety automatic
Bronto Skylift’s truck-mounted aerial work platforms are now available
with the Bronto 2+ work envelope management system which monitors the
outrigger settings and platform load to automatically keep platform movement
within safe operating parameters. The system includes two display panels —
one on the platform, the other at the ground control — that show the
maximum possible outreach in all directions for a given platform load. The
panel display also shows the position of the outriggers, axle lock status
(on/off), and ground pressure of each outrigger.

Improves paver’s surge capacity
Cedarapids’
new MS-5 pickup machine features an increased elevator angle to optimize
material discharge height, improving the paver’s surge capacity. The MS-5
has a 60-inch-wide throat and elevator, and a production capacity of 1,320
tons per hour. Cedarapids says the machine has a low initial purchase price,
uses less fuel, and has fewer moving parts than competing products.
According to the company, MS-5 operating costs are less than $0.10 per ton,
less than half the cost of competing models.
