New compact loaders are quieter
Bobcat has rolled out its K-Series compact loaders
featuring a hydraulically driven cooling fan that senses machine operating
temperatures and self-regulates to rotate only as fast as it needs to. The
result is a machine that can be 30% quieter in some operating conditions,
reducing operator fatigue, enhancing communication on the job site, and
compliance with city noise ordinances. Bobcat also offers an optional sound
reduction package for even more sound reduction.
Bobcat’s large-frame loaders also get an upgraded
bowtie-style drive chain that is 38% stronger than the previous chain. The
improvement has been made to increase service life in tough applications
such as those requiring over-the-tire steel tracks or solid or segmented
tires. Large-frame vertical path loaders also get 2 inches more lift height
to make truck loading and unloading easier.
Medium-frame loaders (S130 through S205, and T140
through T190) now feature the K-Force hydraulic system previously available
only on large-frame units. The system includes a dedicated charge pump that
increases hydraulic breakout forces by 8%.
And K-Series track loaders get an additional roller
in their track undercarriage to provide better ride quality and improve
track and roller life.

Grading and leveling
Skid-steer operators can complete a final grade on
smooth or sloped surfaces with John Deere’s new Worksite Pro RL66 and RL88
Roller Levels, according to the company. The attachments feature a patented
box blade with roller level that can do site prep work without hydraulics.
John Deere says the result has lower initial costs and lower operation costs
than other final grade tools.

New grader-mounted milling system
Maddock has introduced a Series II version of its
motor-grader-mounted RG72 RotoGrader. The original Series I version, still
available, bolts to the motor grader moldboard and allows cutting on
roadways and shoulders. The new Series II replaces the moldboard and allows
cuts outside the tires on both sides of the machine. Maddock says state
DOTs, counties, and cities are using the RotoGrader for bump- cutting,
surface milling, and cutting butt joints.

GPS grader control upgrade
Topcon is offering a new Cross Slope and GLONASS
satellite dual-constellation upgrade path package for existing 3Di-GPS
machines. The 3Di-GPS indicator systems are Topcon’s alternative to more
expensive, fully automated systems. The new package is part of Topcon’s
“plug and play” concept that provides total compatibility of components
between systems and machines. Designed to work with graders, scrapers, and
dozers, the systems can be converted to fully automatic control at a later
time through the addition of hydraulic components.
