Check out the
latest curb-and-gutter machines that can make your job easier.
Gomaco
Hook-and-go mold mount system
The
new mold mount system on Gomaco’s GT-3600 curb-and-gutter machines has
no pins or latches and no attachments. The operator simply drives the
machine up to the mold, hooks the mount to a special attachment plate on
the mold; and hydraulically lifts the mold and goes back to work slipforming.
The travel speed on the new machine is nearly
double, from 66 to 125 feet per minute, while the new track motors
provide a smooth, slow, uninterrupted crawl while paving. The new legs
have increased 15% in diameter and have the same quality and durability
as the Commander III legs.
Smart cylinders provide dependable steering
control feedback for push-button steering setup and eliminate the
sprocket, chain, and potentiometer on top of each leg. The G21 digital
operating system is standard, allowing the operator to teach the smart
cylinders to set a desired degree of leg rotation so the tracks don’t
strike any object in minimum- or zero-clearance requirements. The G21
also features software for the slope transition system for automatic
correction on grade elevation, automatic correction for steering, and
eliminates stringline adjustment.

Terex Roadbuilding
Quick-change mold inserts
The
new Terex|CMI BCG3303 barrier, curb and gutter, and small utility
slipform paver from Terex Roadbuilding features a low-profile design and
a quick-change theme. A modular curb forming system allows contractors
to change profile mold inserts in a matter of minutes without removing
the hopper and auger assembly. The assembly can be positioned on the
left or right side of the machine for more versatility.
A narrow transport width allows the machine to
be transported quickly without disassembly. An expandable paving module
lets contractors lift the mold from the completed work without any
disassembly. The Bid-Well BCG3303’s three-track drive system features
power-swing legs and power steering, offering unlimited configurations
and exceptional on-site maneuverability.

LeeBoy
Maneuverable and compact
The
LeeBoy LBC-24W Concrete Curb and Gutter machine is a maneuverable and
compact machine designed to slipform curbs and gutters cost-effectively.
The steering controls turn a smooth radius as tight as 24 inches,
eliminating time-consuming hand forming. The machine can be used on soil
or pavement using a stringline or manual controls. Pouring molds can be
replaced quickly and easily with the quick-change mold system.
Features include a 37.5-horsepower diesel
engine, hydrostatic variable-speed drive, superior visibility, and
electronic controls, enabling a one-person operation. Its 7,000-pound
compact size, all-wheel drive, and maneuverability make for simple setup
and transport.

Miller Formless
Tight radius ability
The
M-1000 curb-and-gutter machine from Miller Formless is known for its
compact size, maneuverability, and tight radius ability, but it can also
pour 30-inch wide scab-on (adjacent to pavement) curb and gutter, 5-inch
sidewalk, and valley gutter.
Many of these scab-on jobs don’t require a
stringline either. The machine has patented microprocessor control,
standard four-track design, and independent front and rear steering.

Miller Spreader
Job site flexibility
Miller
Spreader’s MC1050 curb-and-gutter machine was designed to provide a cost
effective way to place curb up to 18-inches high and curb and gutter up
to 24-inches wide. It can also place tack down curb over pins and place
sidewalks up to 48-inches wide. The modular frame design allows the
conveyor to be placed on either side of the machine, and the form can be
located either straddle or offset to the right or left, enhancing
jobsite flexibility. At less than 6,000 pounds, the unit can be
transported on a twin axle trailer. Stringline automatic grade and
steering control, and optional laser grade control are available.

Power Curbers
Twice the horsepower
The
Power Curber 5700-Super-B features a 50% increase in horsepower. The
133-horsepower engine increases the machine’s trimming and pouring
capabilities in high-production curb-and-gutter applications. Other
features include a fully-enclosed cast auger conveyor that holds enough
concrete to get through a tight radius without delays for repositioning
the truck; hydraulic mold offset that allows the operator to adjust the
mold 16-inches vertically and 24-inches horizontally for rehab curb work
or pouring around catch basins; and the Quick-Connect Mold Mount System
that allows molds to be changed in only a few minutes.

Messinger
Simple and reliable
The
new Curb Fox 5000 Slipformer from Messinger offers a full range of
curb-and-gutter applications in a simple and reliable machine. The
machine uses hydrostatic, all-wheel drive; has heavy-duty foam-filled
tires for trouble-free performance; and an integral parking brake for
safety on inclines and during transport.
With an operating weight of 5,000 pounds, the
machine will slipform curb and gutter up to 24-inches wide in the offset
position, and up to 36-inches wide in the center. It can also pave curbs
up to 20-inches high and sidewalks up to 5-feet wide. Sensors position
the paver for precise elevation, steering, and slope. The 28-horsepower
Kubota diesel engine provides ample power for difficult jobs; a
turbo-charged option is available. The machine transports easily on a
small trailer behind a pickup truck, making it economical even for small
jobs.
