Super-portable plant produces
Terex Roadbuilding has extended its line of super-portable counter-flow
asphalt plants with the introduction of the E225P. The unit has a production
capacity of up to 225 tons per hour and can be moved in five loads. The
counter-flow drum’s new flight arrangement offers more efficient aggregate
heating and asphalt mixing, according to the company. It is recommended for
a wide variety of mixes, including Superpave and stone matrix asphalt. The
base plant has the necessary electronic connections to accept recycled
asphalt, and Terex says its counter-flow technology enables the E225P to run
higher percentages of RAP than parallel flow designs.

Two new commercial-class pavers
Bomag
has rolled out dash-2 series models of its mid-size, 85-horsepower
commercial pavers. The 814-2 features hydrostatic drive and an exclusive
load-sensing hydraulic system that optimizes power and efficiency by
delivering power only where needed.
The
new model uses Bomag’s Unimat 2 screed with hydraulically controlled screed
widths from 8 to 14 feet. The 815-2 has the same features, but with a screed
that can extend from 8 to 15 feet. Both can pave at speeds up to 180 feet
per minute and have travel speeds of up to 360 feet per minute.

New construction trucks
Mack has introduced a new generation of its Granite
and Granite Axle Back truck series. The new models feature the all-new
MackPower MP7 engine, an 11-liter block available in six horsepower ratings
between 325 and 405 horsepower. Hallmarks of the new engine are said to be a
significant improvement in fuel economy and “tremendous low-end torque
response.” The new trucks are built on the 116-inch BBC Mack Cornerstone
chassis. Their cabs have an extra 4 inches of depth for more leg and belly
room, and to allow a seat recline angle of more than 20 degrees. Also new: a
wrap-around cockpit-style dash, one-piece windshield, and a broadly
adjustable steering column with driver foot pedal controls suspended, rather
than floor-mounted. The pedal arrangement means the driver’s heel never has
to leave the floor when switching between fuel and brake pedals.
