Stormwater treatment
Vortechnics’ new VortSentry is designed to capture
sediment and free-floating pollutants from urban runoff. It can be used as a
standalone or as a pretreatment system used in conjunction with other
stormwater treatment devices. The unit uses a combination of vortex motion
and flow controls to remove contaminated sediment, oil, and debris from
runoff before the water discharges into surface waters.
With no moving parts and a clear view to the
captured pollutants, the unit is easy to install and maintain and offers a
compact, lightweight design that is ideal for congested sites. All models
are configured with a flow partition to ensure that the rate of flow through
the treatment chamber will not cause pollutant re-entrainment, even as the
total flow rate through the system increases.

Leaf collection system
Holder’s new leaf collection system makes fall curb
cleanup easy. Coordinated behind a rear-load garbage packer, the versatile
C2.42 tractor, equipped with a leaf push/loader attachment, can easily load
4 tons of leaves per hour. The narrow and highly maneuverable unit travels
up and down a ramp discharging the leaves directly into the packer body.
When one section is swept clean, the rear loading ramp is raised and the
truck moves to another area. The system doesn’t require many trucks and
drivers, making it cost-efficient and practical.

Compression machine speeds testing
The Humboldt
H-1322, Marshall and TSR Compression
Machine provides unattended operation and recording of test data for use in
asphalt, concrete, and soil testing applications. The new machine provides
hard-copy test data when printed confirmation of test results is required.
The system automatically tests and records Marshall stability and plastic
flow of bituminous mixture on one chart with an accuracy to less than 1%
over the total range, eliminating operator error in dial readings and manual
recording of data. The unit automatically resets itself to the start
position after each test, increasing operator efficiency, and complies with
ASTM and AASHTO test standards for Marshall and TSR Compression tests.

water should enter these inlets that connect roads and parking lots to local
water. Available in 11 forms, each marker features the phrase No Dumping and
warns where the drain leads. Stock circular designs are available in
diameters ranging from 4 to 8 inches. Custom shapes, sizes, and artwork are

Sweeper with operator-controlled leaf door
option
Johnston Sweeper Company
has a tough new
operator-controlled leaf door option package on its 3000/4000 mechanical
broom street sweeper models. The option allows easy ingestion of heavy leaf
accumulations after the annual leaf-shedding season, increasing sweeper
productivity. This system features a hydraulically operated lower elevator
panel that can be raised or lowered at the touch of a switch. It allows the
leaves to enter the elevator without being ploughed ahead.

Removable paint system
After 10 years of research, Magic Colors has
developed a removable paint system. To remove the paint from asphalt or
concrete, simply apply the remover to the painted surface, wait several
minutes, then pressure wash the biodegradable paint residue off to the side
of the road with no adverse environmental impact. Applications include
temporary striping and road markings in road construction areas.
