Duraco Industries
Injection patching machine

Duraco Industries’ DuraPatcher model 125DJT repairs streets and highways using injection. Perma-Patch
Cold patch repair material

Perma-Patch’s blend of pressure-sensitive plastics, chemicals, modified asphalt, and aggregate can be used to patch potholes in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees F, rain or shine. No special equipment is needed to apply the material and traffic is not shutdown for extended periods of time. Crews spread the material directly from the 60-pound bag and rake it out to a depth slightly above the surrounding pavement. Water and debris need not be removed prior to application. After installation, the repair is compacted with a vehicle tire, hand tamper, portable plate compactor, or Jumping Jack. According to the company, the patch will not shrink, thereby forming a water tight seal with the existing pavement and preventing further damage.

Crafco
Spray injection patcher

Crafco says its Magnum Spray Injection Patcher repairs a wide variety of pavement conditions including potholes, deteriorated shoulders, utility cuts, fissures, and alligator cracks. The patcher’s integrated operation cleans the area to be repaired, applies a tack coat, coats the aggregate with asphalt emulsion, and then applies the mixture, all in one continuous operation. Using high-velocity air, the coated aggregate material is compacted during application, leaving virtually no voids in the final repair and making a long-lasting patch, according to the company.

The Magnum features a maintenance-free emulsion feed line and a machined aluminum application nozzle that contains an internal pressurized spray ring that the company says assures 100% aggregate coating. The unit can place over 7 tons per hour.

Unique Paving Materials
Concrete patching material

A new concrete patching material from Unique Paving Materials is specially designed for patching, repair, and restoration of worn or damaged concrete structures and surfaces. CPM is a high-strength, rapid-developing, commercial-grade concrete patch that offers resistance to chlorides and acids. The company says the material can withstand high freeze-thaw conditions, allows minimal chloride penetration, and has high compressive and shear/bond strength without the need for an additional bonding agent. A 2-inch layer of material begins to set up within 20 minutes of use, and the area can be reopened to traffic in as little as 45 minutes to an hour. For repairs deeper than 6 inches, a second layer can be applied after 30 minutes. The repaired surface is ready for paint after 24 hours.

Schwarze Industries
Velocity-filled asphalt patcher

Schwarze Industries’ says their Roadpatcher provides the end user with a lower cost of operation, a decrease in liability exposure, and a 92.8% compaction rate with the operator never having to leave the cab. Aggregate material is controlled through a positive-flow conveyor system, while asphalt emulsion is sprayed on. The Roadpatcher cleans the pothole, applies a tack asphalt emulsion, fills and compacts the hole with patching material, and then tops the repair with a dry coat so that the road can be opened to traffic immediately. All these actions are controlled from the safety of the cab. A line of trailer-mounted self-contained patchers are also available.

Bergkamp
Flameless pothole patcher

Bergkamp’s FP5 Flameless Pothole Patcher’s insulated 5.1-square-yard electric heated hopper keeps asphalt at a constant temperature and pliable for an extended period of time. The material chute, spoils bins, and tools are easily accessible from the back or from curbside so the operator doesn’t have to step into traffic. A hydraulic lift platform lowers the pavement breaker and plate compactor from its transport position on the patching machine to reduce the possibility of back injury. The system can be plugged into an external power source to keep material warm overnight or over a weekend, reducing material waste and allowing the unit to be filled at the end of the day. Directional arrow lights at the back of the truck safely signal approaching traffic of the road work.

The FP5 is available in both truck-mounted and trailer-mounted versions. The truck-mounted version is a one-piece unit that mounts easily on a short-wheel-base 35,000 GVW single-axle truck for good maneuverability. A large working deck at the front of the unit provides access to the deck-mounted storage tanks and hopper. The trailer-mounted version has the same features but is run by an onboard generator and can be pulled by an air-brake equipped truck.
