Aquajet
systems says its new Evolution robots employ a new control system that
improves removal rates by up to 20%. The new robots are designed for work on
bridges, tunnels, and roads, among other applications.
Working with a typical 1,000 bar pressure and 250
liters/minute, the units can handle removal depths as great as 1,000 mm of
concrete.

Batch or continuous
Gencor says its
Convertible Ultraplant is the first and only patented asphalt plant design
to allow contractors the ability to operate in a batch or continuous mode.
The company says the touch of a button switches from continuous to batch
operation and back again without stopping. The plant is available in
capacities ranging from 100 to 700 tons per hour, and in stationary or
skid-mounted models.

Burner milestone
Astec
reached a major milestone as a manufacturer of burners for asphalt
plants in July by shipping its 100th unit, a Whisper Jet burner, to All
American Asphalt’s Corona, California facility. All American already owned
one Whisper Jet as well as Astec’s Phoenix Talon burner. The company began
manufacturing its own burners late in 2001.

Infrared asphalt heater
Trackless
Vehicles powers its electric infrared asphalt heater with an
80-horsepower generator. The company says its attachment provides a simpler,
safer alternative to traditional propane asphalt heaters. It is also
designed for versatility:
The heater can be separated from the generator frame
in minutes so the 45-KW/175-amp unit can be used for other applications.

Versatile compact
Caterpillar
says its new 904B compact wheel loader combines the versatility of a
skid-steer loader with the power and economy of a wheel loader. The
52-horsepower, 9,810-pound unit has a skid-steer loader quick coupler,
high-flow hydraulics, and Z-bar linkage. It is less than 8-feet tall and its
standard bucket is less than 6-feet wide. It handles a wide range of Cat
skid-steer loader tools.

Front engine PTO
Kenworth
has introduced a front engine power take-off option for its T800 short-hood
model.
The option is designed specifically for snowplow,
municipal dump truck, mixer, and crane applications. The option includes
extended front frame rails, a raised cab and hood, and a modified bottom
radiator tank for PTO shaft clearance.

Excavator milestone
The excavator building and marketing partnership
between Case and Sumitomo that began in 1992 reached a new milestone this
summer with the delivery of the 10,000th Case excavator built on a Sumitomo
platform. Case says its excavator sales have grown six-fold since the
partnership began. The Sumitomo-based Case line currently includes four
minimum-swing models and eight standard excavators.

Modular hammers
Allied
says its new Rammer m-Series hammers feature a modular design that makes
maintenance and repair faster and easier. Each unit is comprised of a
housing module, impact module, and tool module, any one of which can be
overhauled separately from the others. Other features include adjustable
impact energy, a constant-blow system, and higher power-to-weight ratios,
thanks to a heavier piston delivering more impact energy.

Hoss Equipment
Company, a Texas-based global supplier of new and used mining and
construction equipment, has recruited Clint Preston to direct the
day-to-day operations of its machine rebuild program. Preston has 25
years of experience at Caterpillar dealerships handling equipment
maintenance and rebuilding. The Hoss Custom Rebuild Program focuses on
complete rebuilds of large Caterpillar machinery.

Hitachi has rolled out two, new wheeled excavators
that boast travel speeds up to 15.5 miles per hour. The company also
