Snow sweepers

Sweepster’s Model AH hydraulic drive power sweeper

Here’s an attachment you can use all year, not just for snow. Sweepster's Model AH hydraulic drive power sweeper is designed for multi-season use in cleaning snow, dirt, and debris from roadways or parking lots. It comes with a 6-ft. by 32-in.-diameter sectional brush that’s big enough to tackle even the toughest cleanup projects, the company says.

The unit is powered by a single- or dual-motor hydraulic system and controlled from the operator’s seat. It features hydraulic angle change of 30 degrees, left or right, and options include a 7-ft. brush, dirt deflector, storage stands, sprinkler system, and sight indicators. Polypropylene, crimped wire, or poly/wire bristles are available.

The company also offers the RHFA attachment rotary sweeper. It quickly attaches to ASAE Cat. I or II three-point hitches on the front or rear of tractors. It’s versatile all year, too, with a standard 6-ft. by 32-in.-diameter brush.

Skid-steer attachment

Construction and maintenance personnel traditionally use scrapers, blades, or buckets for material removal — a process that is make-shift, time-consuming, and laborious. With Melroe Company’s new Bobcat Super Scraper skid-steer loader attachment, the operator simply lowers the edge of a horizontal, rotating disk to the ground and drives forward to remove ice, compacted snow, and other materials.

The attachment mounts quickly to Bobcat skid-steer loaders and can easily be maneuvered to project locations for fast turnaround time. Clean-up can then be completed with a bucket. The self-sharpening disk is 22 in. in diameter and has an operating weight of 172 lbs. The Super Scraper is designed for seven different Bobcat models.

Plow and scraper

Root Spring Scraper Company’s RR95 and 96 Snowknife

Root Spring Scraper Company’s RR95 and 96 Snowknife front snowplow line features a heavy-duty rigid frame and a moldboard roll that knifes through the snow, throwing it off the road. The plow also has a bolt-on keeper plate for the blade to help eliminate damage to the moldboard that comes by wearing the blade too far. The line is available with your choice of hitches and optional 14-in. automotive tire at the leading edge in lieu of a standard adjustable skid shoe.

The company also has the new 8900 underbody scraper, an improved design of the F89. The new heavy-duty cylinder ear, clevis pin, and hangerboard reinforcement ensure that it’s the stoutest scraper on the market, the company says.

Folding plows

Designed for wheel loaders and motor graders, the Henke Folding Vee FV-12 is a heavy-duty, multi-directional dozer blade. It operates to handle snow as a vee plow, a reversing dozer blade, or a scoop, and is designed for downpressure from wheel loader arm or motor grader lift groups. Weighing over 3,700 lbs. and standing 47-in. tall by 12-ft. wide, it provides operators with the flexibility of adjusting the blade position based on ever-changing plowing conditions and situations.

Henke also makes Loader Backhoe tripping/reverse snowplows, including the LB30R10. The unit is basically a composite product drawing on the features from the company’s truck plow and industrial product line.

Plow jack

A plow’s cutting edge can tip the scales at 140 lbs. and go to 12 ft. in length. Replacing them won’t be a hassle with the No. 5083 Blade Buddy from OTC, the company says.

The cutting edge rests on a cradle at the correct angle and can easily be transported to the job using four swivel casters. Once at the plow, the 4-t. jack raises the cutting edge into position so it can be bolted into place. The Blade Buddy handles a range of edges from 3- to 12-ft. long on front, wing, and underbody plows.

Severe-duty removal

Oshkosh Truck Corporation has introduced the MPT-Series Municipal Patrol Truck, a severe-duty snow removal truck for the municipal snowplow market. It’s derived from the Oshkosh P-Series, which the company says is the only truck that can clear roads of five ft. of snow or more.

The new MPT offers many of the same rugged features as its larger brother, but is engineered smaller for municipal and county road crews. The top of the cab is 11 in. shorter, allowing it to fit through standard 10-ft. garage doors. It’s more than a ft. narrower and shorter in length, too, so it can corner tighter and get through congested city streets easier. The all-wheel-drive truck is designed to give heavy-duty performance at an affordable price, the company says.

Pull plow

Daniels says that two plows are better than one, and with the Daniels Pull Plow mounted to your 4WD vehicle, you’ll discover the efficiency of one pull snow removal and realize dramatic increases up to 50% in your snow plowing productivity. The Pull Plow doesn’t replace your front-mounted plow; it complements it by cleanly removing snow and ice from those hard-to-plow areas that your front-mounted plow simply isn’t designed to efficiently handle. The plow’s fold-back wings will save transport time, too.

The company’s Side Wings are suitable for all kinds of trucks, graders, and loaders, and have standard or fully detachable rear attachment and wing push arms.

Tenco also makes snow blowers, deicing material spreaders, and the 12M dump/spreader.

Fracture tool

Pacal Blades Division has just introduced the Pacal 2500 non-rotating carbide bit system for underbody scrapers. It’s a tool for the fracture and removal of ice and compacted snow from all types of road surfaces.

The adapter blades have a universal design that is easily installed on any size moldboard. They’re made from abrasion-and impact-resistant, heat-treated steel. The non-rotating, quick-change bits are carbide-inserted for extended wear and heat treated for impact resistance. They have a blunt scraping surface designed for snow and ice removal.

Also new are Carbide-Inserted/Carbide Embedded grader and snow plow blades. They’re designed to wear longer than any other similar blades, and will outlast carbon steel blades as much as 20 to 1, the company says.

Light-duty plows

The new Snowman 60 LD is a 6-ft., light-duty plow designed for the downsize 2- and 4-wheel-drive trucks as well as sport-utility vehicles, while the 70+SC is a 7-ft., single cylinder for commercial use with full-size half- and three-quarter-t. 4WD trucks. Both models have a new, easy hook-up to a standard square hitch receiver. High lift and spring trip release remain exclusive features on all Snowman plows.

The company also has a new multi-hookup broom that works all year. The 7.5-ft. Grotech Broomer is available as a complete unit or as an attachment to Snowman plows.

Snow blowers

Stewart & Stevenson says its snow blowers have proven to be the most fuel and hp efficient in each t./hr. class — with support second to none. The 3000 and 4000 t./hr. self-propelled units are available in front and rear discharge models.

Loader-attachment snow blowers are available in three sizes to fit a variety of carrier vehicles, providing 700, 1,500, and 2,000 t./hr. snow removal capability. Brooms are also available in front-mount and tow-behind designs, and are equipped with a powerful air-blast system for removing snow from grooved surfaces and lights.

Medium-duty plow

New from The BOSS Snowplow is a 10-ft. Power-V Plow designed to do heavy-duty work with a medium-duty truck (14,000 to 27,000 GVWR). It allows operators to clear intersections, roads, and parking lots in a fraction of the time it used to take, the company says. The multiposition plow offers the same features as the full line of Power-V Snowplows, plus it comes with the SmartHitch automatic removable mount system.

Also new from the company is an easy-to-use, handheld, in-cab control that makes blade movement faster and easier. It’s made with solid state electronics and is available for the entire line of Power-V, Straight-Blade, Poly Power-V, and Straight-Blade Poly Snowplows.
